Nigeria’s headline inflation declined to 15.10% in January 2026 from 15.15% in December 2025

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has just dropped the latest rebased Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January 2026.

Headline Inflation: Decreased by 12.51% to 15.10% YoY (from 27.61% YoY recorded in January 2025). On a monthly basis, inflation declined by 0.05% to 15.10% in January 2026 (from 15.15% in December 2025).
Food Inflation: Fell by 20.73% to 8.89% YoY (from 29.63% YoY in January 2025). On a month-on-month basis, food inflation declined by 5.66% to -6.02% in January 2026 (from -0.36% in December 2025).

Core inflation: Declined by 7.55% to 17.72% YoY (from 25.27% YoY in January 2025). On a month-on-month basis, core inflation decreased by 2.26% to -1.69% in January 2026 (from 0.58% in December 2025).
